Ponytail palm

The elephant's foot prefers a sunny, warm, and dry location. It is very heat and drought tolerant but sensitive to frost.

The soil should be very loose, sandy to mineral, and extremely well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–7.0) is ideal. Waterlogging must be avoided at all costs.

The plant grows very slowly as a succulent tree and usually reaches 1 to 6 meters in height. It is particularly valued for its thickened trunk for water storage and its decorative, tufted leaves.
