Spathiphyllum
(Peace Lily)
Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum spp.) prefer a semi-shady to shady, warm, and sheltered location. They are sensitive to frost and are excellently suited as houseplants or for shady areas in tropical climates.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. Consistent moisture is preferred; the soil should never completely dry out, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a clump-forming, evergreen perennial and typically reaches a height of 30 cm to 1.5 meters, depending on the species and variety. It is primarily valued for its elegant white inflorescences and glossy green leaves.
All parts of the plant are mildly toxic if ingested and can cause irritation in humans and pets.
