Clusia fluminensis prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and humid location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is frost-sensitive and is well-suited as an ornamental plant.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal, consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a shrub or small tree and usually reaches 2 to 6 meters in height. It is primarily used for its dense, decorative growth.
