Sugar apple
(Sugar apple)
The sugar apple prefers a warm, sunny, and wind-protected location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It requires regular watering, with the soil needing to be consistently moist but well-draining.
Ideal conditions include loose, humus-rich, and nutrient-rich soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH value of approximately 5.5 to 7.0. Waterlogging should be avoided, as the roots are sensitive to excessive moisture.
Under optimal conditions, it begins to bear fruit after about 2 to 4 years, producing sweet, creamy fruits with a characteristic scaly skin. The plant typically reaches a height of about 3 to 8 meters and grows as a small to medium-sized tree with an open canopy.
