Cenizo

The Cenizo (mostly Leucophyllum frutescens) prefers a full-sun, very warm and dry location. It is extremely heat and drought tolerant and is well suited for arid to subtropical regions.

The soil should be very well-drained, sandy to stony, and rather poor in nutrients. A neutral to slightly alkaline pH value between approximately 6.5 and 8.0 is ideal; it does not tolerate waterlogging.

The plant grows as a compact shrub and usually reaches 1 to 2.5 meters in height. It is known for its violet to pink flowers after periods of rain.
