Cashew
(Anacardium occidentale)
The cashew tree prefers a sunny, warm, and dry location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is very sensitive to frost and cannot tolerate prolonged cold periods.
The soil should be sandy, well-drained, and rather nutrient-poor to moderately nutrient-rich. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal; waterlogging is not tolerated.
The plant grows as a tree and usually reaches 8 to 15 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 3 to 5 years under good conditions.
