Coleus

The Coleus prefers a bright to semi-shady, warm and sheltered location without direct midday sun. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in consistently warm temperatures.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal. The plant requires regular moisture, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a herbaceous, bushy ornamental plant and usually reaches a height of 20 to 80 cm, depending on the variety and pruning.

It is valued primarily for its extremely colorful, patterned leaves and not for its inconspicuous flowers.
