Breadfruit tree
(Artocarpus altilis)
The breadfruit tree prefers a sunny, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical climate. It is highly sensitive to frost and requires high humidity as well as constant warmth.
The soil should be deep, rich in humus, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal, and regular moisture is important without waterlogging.
The plant grows as a large tree and usually reaches 15 to 25 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 4 to 7 years under good conditions.
