Thornless blackberry
(Rubus fruticosus)
The thornless blackberry prefers a sunny to semi-shady location in a temperate climate. It is very adaptable and grows reliably even in cooler regions.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between about 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal, and consistent moisture promotes yield.
The plant grows as a climbing shrub and can form canes 2 to 4 meters long. It usually bears its first fruits after 1 to 2 years.
