Surinam cherry
(Eugenia involucrata)
The Brazilian Cherry prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and thrives best in a tropical to subtropical climate.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, and consistent moisture is preferred.
The plant grows as a shrub or small tree and usually reaches 2 to 5 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 2 to 4 years.
