Snake plant

Snake plants prefer a bright to semi-shady location, but also tolerate shadier spots very well. They are sensitive to frost and are usually kept as very robust houseplants.

The soil should be very well-drained, sandy to mineral. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal. The plant requires little water as it stores moisture in its leaves; waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

The plant grows as a rosette-forming, succulent foliage plant and reaches a height of about 30 cm to 1.2 meters depending on the variety. It is valued primarily for its extremely low maintenance and upright, sword-shaped leaves.
