Blue Java Banana
(Musa acuminata balbisiana 'Blue Java')
The Blue Java banana prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and only grows reliably in tropical to subtropical climates.
The soil should be humus-rich, nutrient-dense, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 5.5 to 7.0 is ideal, and regular and consistent watering is important.
The plant usually reaches a height of 3 to 6 meters and grows relatively quickly. It typically bears its first fruits after about 2 to 3 years under good conditions.
