American White Ash

The American White Ash prefers a sunny to semi-shady location with plenty of light and good air circulation. It requires regular watering, especially in its early stages, but is later relatively drought-tolerant, though it should not be under constant drought stress.

An ideal soil is deep, humus-rich, and well-draining with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH of about 6.0 to 7.5. Waterlogging should be avoided as it can impair root health.

This species forms winged seeds (samaras) and grows as a large, deciduous tree. It usually reaches a height of about 20 to 30 meters and develops a broad, rounded crown with vigorous growth.
