Amaryllis

Amaryllis prefers a bright to sunny, warm, and sheltered location. It is sensitive to frost and is usually cultivated as a houseplant or outdoors in mild climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and very well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; moderate moisture during the growing season is preferred, and waterlogging should be strictly avoided.

The plant grows from a bulb and usually reaches 30 to 70 cm in height. It is primarily valued for its large, funnel-shaped, very striking flowers.
