The Aguai prefers a sunny to semi-shady location in a warm, subtropical to tropical climate. It is well-suited for regions with regular rainfall.
The soil should be deep, fertile, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 5.5 to 7.0 is ideal, and the soil should be kept consistently moist.
The tree typically reaches a height of 10 to 20 meters and forms a dense canopy. The first fruits can be expected after about 4 to 6 years under good conditions.
