The Abiu (Pouteria caimito) is a tropical evergreen fruit tree from the Amazon, prized for its sweet, aromatic yellow fruits.
It thrives in warm, humid, frost-free conditions with full sun to partial shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.0–6.5). Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging.
The tree grows 10–20 m tall in tropical climates and usually starts producing fruit after 3–5 years.
