Description

Appearance and Origin
The Rangoon Creeper, also known as Jazmín Tres Virtudes (Combretum indicum), is a beautiful and sturdy climbing plant belonging to the Combretaceae family. Originating from Southeast Asia, particularly countries like India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the Philippines, this plant is characterized by its dense, branching vines and striking trumpet-shaped flowers. The flowers can appear in various colors such as white, pink, red, or purple, lending the plant a charming allure.

Growth & Blooming Period
It is a fast-growing climber that readily clings to trellises, fences, or walls. It can reach a considerable height of up to 6-10 meters, forming dense foliage in the process. The blooming period of the Rangoon Creeper typically extends throughout much of the year, especially in warm, tropical, or subtropical climates. The flowers appear in large clusters along the vines, providing a spectacular sight in the garden or on other supporting structures.

Cultivation and Care
It thrives best in sunny to semi-shady locations with well-draining soil. The plant is tolerant of various soil types as long as they are well-drained. Regular watering is required during the growing season to keep the soil evenly moist. The Rangoon Creeper occasionally requires light pruning to control its growth and maintain its shape. In regions with cold winters, it may be advisable to protect the plant from severe frost.

Pollination
The flowers are primarily visited by bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects. These insects are attracted to the conspicuous flowers and contribute to pollination by transporting pollen from flower to flower. The plant produces abundant nectar to attract pollinators, ensuring successful pollination and fruit formation.
