Origin
The Japanese raisin tree, scientifically known as Hovenia dulcis, is native to East Asia and is primarily found in countries like Japan, China, and Korea. It grows in temperate to subtropical climates and is often found in forests, along riverbanks, and in mountainous regions.
Growth and Appearance
It is a medium-sized deciduous tree that can reach heights of up to 10-15 meters. Its leaves are oval to elliptical in shape and dark green in color. In autumn, the leaves turn into an attractive yellow color before falling. The tree’s roots can penetrate deep into the soil, making it relatively resistant to drought.
Cultivation and Care
