Description

Origin
The Ficus Benjamina, also known as weeping fig or Benjamin fig, is a popular indoor plant native to Southeast Asia. It grows in tropical and subtropical regions and has spread worldwide as an ornamental plant due to its attractive leaves and slender growth.

Growth and Appearance
It is an evergreen tree that in nature can reach heights of up to 30 meters. However, as an indoor plant, it typically remains much smaller and is often grown as a shrub. The leaves of the Ficus Benjamina are lanceolate and glossy green. They can reach a length of up to 10 centimeters and hang from thin, flexible branches. The roots of the Ficus Benjamina can grow strongly and adapt well to the environment, making it a popular choice for cultivation in pots and containers.

Cultivation and Care
The Ficus Benjamina prefers bright, indirect light conditions, but also tolerates partial shade. It requires regular watering, making sure the soil dries out slightly between waterings. Waterlogging should be avoided, as it can lead to root rot. The plant benefits from regular misting to increase humidity. Occasional pruning may be necessary to control growth and maintain the plant’s shape.

Use
It is often used as an indoor plant in interiors, as it is relatively easy to care for and is an attractive air-purifying plant. It is suitable for offices, residential spaces, and public buildings. Additionally, the Ficus Benjamina is also grown as an outdoor ornamental plant in warmer climates, especially in tropical gardens and landscapes.

Pollination
Typically, it is not cultivated for its flowers, and indoor plants rarely produce flowers. Even when it blooms, pollination is often not relevant, as indoor plants are usually clones. However, in the wild, Ficus species are pollinated by tiny wasps that live in the flowers.
