White Sapote

The white sapote prefers a sunny to partially shaded, warm and sheltered location in a subtropical to mild tropical climate. It is only slightly frost-sensitive and tolerates short cold periods better than many other tropical fruits.

The soil should be deep, rich in humus, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal; regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as an evergreen tree and usually reaches 6 to 15 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 4 to 7 years under good conditions.
