Foxtail Agave

The agave prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and frost-free location. It requires only moderate watering and, once established, is very drought-tolerant, while waterlogging should definitely be avoided.

Ideally, it needs loose, sandy to gravelly, and very well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 6.0 to 7.5. Soils that are too heavy or constantly moist can cause root rot.

The plant forms a spectacular, curved inflorescence with greenish-yellow flowers and typically blooms only once at the end of its life. It usually reaches a height of about 60 to 120 cm and a width of up to 1.5 meters and grows as an attractive, stemless to short-stemmed rosette plant.
