Pampas grass
(Pampas grass)
Pampas grass prefers a full sun, warm, and open, windy location with plenty of light. It requires only moderate watering and, once established, is very drought-tolerant, but should not experience waterlogging.
Ideally, the soil should be well-drained, sandy-loamy, and rather poor in nutrients, with a neutral to slightly acidic pH value of approximately 6.0 to 7.0. Soils that are too heavy and wet can lead to rot at the root crown.
The plant does not produce edible fruits, but rather large, decorative, feather-like flower plumes. It usually reaches a height of about 2 to 3 meters (including the inflorescence, even over 3 meters) and grows as an imposing, clump-forming ornamental grass.
