Heart of palm

The palm heart prefers a semi-shady to sunny, warm, and very humid location. It is frost-sensitive and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and consistently moist but well-drained. A slightly acidic pH (approx. 5.0–6.5) is ideal. The plant requires a lot of water, but waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a slender, multi-stemmed palm and usually reaches 5 to 20 meters in height. It is primarily valued for its edible palm heart and its elegant, tropical appearance.
