Maru Oregano

Maru oregano prefers a full sun, warm, and relatively dry location with good air circulation. It requires only moderate watering and is quite drought-tolerant once established. Waterlogging should be strictly avoided.

Ideal soil is loose, very well-drained, and tends to be low in nutrients to moderately fertile with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH value of about 6.0 to 8.0. Heavy and permanently damp soils should be avoided.

The aromatic leaves and young shoots are primarily used as a spice. During flowering, it produces small, mostly whitish to pink flowers that are visited by bees and other pollinators. Maru oregano usually reaches a height of about 20 to 50 cm and grows as a compact, bushy, perennial herb.
