Marjoram

Marjoram prefers a full-sun, warm, and sheltered location with good air circulation. It requires only moderate watering and tolerates short dry spells well, while waterlogging should be avoided at all costs.

Ideally, the soil should be light, well-draining, and rather poor in nutrients to moderately fertile, with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH value of around 6.5 to 7.5. Overly rich or heavy soils can weaken the aroma.

Primarily, the aromatic leaves are used; the small flowers also serve as a food source for insects. It usually reaches a height of about 20 to 50 cm and grows as a compact, bushy, perennial herb (often cultivated as an annual in colder regions).
