Snapdragon
(Antirrhinum majus)
Snapdragons prefer a sunny to semi-shady location with good air circulation. They require regular watering, with the soil kept consistently moist but well-drained.
Ideally, the soil should be loose, rich in humus and nutrients, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of around 6.0 to 7.0. Waterlogging should be avoided as the roots are sensitive to it.
The plant does not produce edible fruits but rather striking, spike-shaped flowers in numerous colors. Depending on the variety, it reaches a height of about 20 to 100 cm and grows as an upright, profusely flowering ornamental plant.
