Lipstick Palm

The Lipstick Palm prefers a partially shaded to sunny, very warm, and extremely humid location. It is very sensitive to frost and only grows reliably in tropical climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and consistently moist but well-draining. A slightly acidic pH (approx. 5.0–6.5) is ideal. The plant requires a lot of water and high humidity; waterlogging in swampy conditions is well tolerated.

The plant grows as a multi-stemmed, slow to moderately growing palm and usually reaches 6 to 15 meters in height. It is primarily valued for its striking, bright red crownshafts.
