Fountain grass

Fountain grass prefers a sunny, warm, and sheltered location. It requires regular watering, especially during the establishment phase, but later tolerates short dry periods well.

An ideal soil is well-drained, sandy-loamy, and nutrient-rich, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 5.5 to 7.0. Waterlogging should be avoided as the roots are sensitive.

The plants do not produce edible fruits, but decorative flower and seed heads. Depending on the species, they usually reach a height of about 30 cm to over 2 meters and grow in clumps with sometimes striking, feathery inflorescences.
