Camelia

The camellia prefers a semi-shady, wind-protected location with high humidity and a consistently mild climate. It requires regular watering, with the soil always being slightly moist but well-drained.

Ideal is a humus-rich, loose, and acidic soil with a pH value of about 5.0 to 6.0. Calcareous soils should be avoided, as they can lead to leaf discoloration and growth problems.

The plant does not produce edible fruits, but decorative, usually large flowers in various colors. Depending on the variety, it reaches a height of about 1.5 to 5 meters and grows as an evergreen, slow-growing shrub or small tree.
