Japanese Parsley / Mitsuba
(Cryptotaenia japonica)
Japanese parsley prefers a semi-shady to shady, moist, and sheltered location with consistently mild temperatures. It requires regular watering, with the soil always being slightly moist but well-drained.
An ideal soil is humus-rich, loose, and nutrient-rich with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 5.5 to 7.0. Consistent soil moisture promotes tender, aromatic leaf growth.
The aromatic leaves and young shoots are primarily used as a culinary herb. It typically reaches a height of about 30 to 100 cm and grows as an upright, herbaceous, and perennial plant (often short-lived in colder climates).
