Ginger

Ginger prefers a warm, semi-shady to sunny and sheltered location with high humidity. It requires regular watering, with the soil being consistently moist but well-drained.

An ideal soil is humus-rich, loose, and nutrient-rich with a slightly acidic pH value of about 5.5 to 6.5. Waterlogging should be avoided, as the rhizomes are sensitive to rot.

The aromatic rhizomes are used and can be harvested after about 8 to 10 months, depending on the intended use. The plant usually reaches a height of about 60 to 120 cm and grows as a perennial, herbaceous spice and medicinal plant.
