Canna Lily / Achira

The Indian Shot prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and thrives particularly well in high humidity.

The soil should be humous, nutrient-rich, and well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 7.0 is ideal; consistent moisture is important, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows herbaceous from rhizomes and usually reaches a height of 1 to 2.5 meters. It forms starchy rhizomes and occasionally seeds, which can be harvested or used after about 6 to 12 months.
