Golden Trumpet
(Allamanda cathartica)
The Golden Trumpet prefers a fully sunny, warm, and very sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It is sensitive to frost and requires consistently high temperatures.
The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and very well-drained. A slightly acidic to neutral pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal; regular moisture is preferred, but waterlogging should be avoided.
The plant grows as a vigorously climbing vine or shrub and can reach several meters in height. It forms spiny, green capsule fruits, which are poisonous, and is primarily valued for its large, bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers.
