Photinia

The Photinia prefers a sunny to semi-shady location with a sheltered position. It requires regular watering, especially during the establishment phase, but can later tolerate short dry periods, though it should not dry out completely.

An ideal soil is humus-rich, well-drained, and nutrient-rich, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 5.5 to 7.0. Waterlogging should be avoided as it can damage the roots.

The plant does not produce edible fruits, but rather small, red ornamental berries in autumn. It usually reaches a height of about 2 to 5 meters and grows as an evergreen, dense shrub or small tree with striking red new shoots.
