Peanut grass
(Arachis pintoi)
Peanut grass prefers a sunny to semi-shady location in a warm, tropical to subtropical climate. It requires regular watering, tolerates short dry periods, and grows best in consistently moist soil.
Loose, well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of approximately 5.0 to 7.0 is ideal. Thanks to its nitrogen-fixing ability, it also thrives in less nutrient-rich soils.
The plant forms small, underground legumes, but is mostly used as a groundcover or forage crop. It reaches a height of about 10 to 20 cm and spreads rapidly as a dense, creeping carpet with yellow flowers.
