Smoke bush
(Tetradenia riparia)
The Dunststrauch prefers a sunny to semi-shady, warm, and sheltered location in a tropical to subtropical climate. It requires only moderate watering and is relatively drought-tolerant once established, but should not be allowed to dry out completely.
Ideally, it thrives in well-drained, sandy-loamy, and rather nutrient-poor to moderately fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 6.0 to 7.5. Waterlogging should be strictly avoided, as it can quickly lead to root damage.
The plant produces striking, fragrant inflorescences in shades of white to purple. It usually reaches a height of about 2 to 4 meters and grows as a fast-growing, bushy shrub with aromatic foliage.
