Sweet alyssum

Sweet Alyssum prefers a sunny to semi-shady location with warm, rather dry conditions. It only needs moderate watering and tolerates short dry periods well, while waterlogging should definitely be avoided.

Ideally, the soil should be well-drained, rather sandy to gravelly, and low in nutrients, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH value of about 6.0 to 7.5. On overly nutrient-rich soils, flowering often decreases.

The plant does not produce edible fruits, but rather many small, fragrant flowers in white, pink, or purple. It usually reaches a height of about 10 to 25 cm and grows as a dense, carpet-forming ground cover or edging plant.
