Trunk cherry

The jaboticaba prefers a sunny to partially shaded, warm and wind-protected location. It is frost-sensitive and thrives best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-draining. A slightly acidic pH value between approximately 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal, and consistent moisture is preferred.

The plant grows as a slow-growing tree and usually reaches 3 to 10 meters in height. It typically bears its first fruits after about 3 to 6 years, often directly on the trunk.
