Natal Wild Banana

The Natal Wild Banana prefers a warm, sheltered location with full sun to partial shade. It is sensitive to frost and grows best in tropical to subtropical climates.

The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and well-draining. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (approx. 5.5–7.0) is ideal. Consistent moisture is preferred, and waterlogging should be avoided.

The plant grows as a large, banana-like perennial with a woody stem, usually reaching 2 to 10 meters in height. It is valued primarily for its very large, decorative leaves and striking flowers.
