Apple
(Malus domestica)
The apple tree prefers a sunny to semi-shady, airy, and as sheltered from wind as possible location. It requires regular watering, especially during dry periods, with the soil kept evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Ideal is a deep, humus-rich, and well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 6.0 to 7.0. Good nutrient supply reliably supports flowering and fruit development.
Under optimal conditions, the apple tree bears its first fruits after about 2 to 4 years. Depending on the variety and pruning, it usually reaches a height of about 3 to 6 meters and develops a spreading, long-lived crown.
