Appearance and Origin
Mexican petunia (Ruellia simplex) is a perennial flowering plant belonging to the Acanthaceae family. It originates from Mexico but is also widely distributed in other tropical and subtropical regions. It is known for its attractive funnel-shaped flowers and lush foliage. The flowers can come in various colors, including blue, purple, pink, and white, and they often bloom throughout the summer.
Growth & Blooming Period
Petunias have an upright growth habit and can reach heights of up to 60-90 cm depending on the variety. They form dense bushes with oval leaves that present themselves in rich green.
